Why Is My Download Faster Than My Upload

  • #1
My cyberspace package details minimum download speeds of 1mbps with maximum speeds of 2mbps. For some reason I accept non been getting those speeds at all. Infact, I have been getting 1mbps UPLOAD speeds and 0.twenty-0.50mbps download speeds. Is there any reason my upload speeds would be so much higher than my download speeds? I've tried fiddling with my router past changing the DNS (to Google servers), changing the wifi channels, connecting direct to my router with an ethernet cable, etc. but nothing seems to be working. My ISP sent me an email that their servers show I am getting over i.2mbps download speeds with a graph visually detailing the speeds, notwithstanding I have not been getting that.

There is no 1 else connected to my router, I accept checked several times, and I don't have whatsoever groundwork processes on my computer that would affect my speeds. At this point I accept no idea why my speeds are the manner that they are. Anyone take whatsoever clue what could be wrong?

(It'south the same on my mobile device likewise).

See if you can borrow a router for testing purposes every bit I doubtable that may be the cause.

And if information technology isn't, well at least yous will have eliminated that, so some progress will have been made.

That's messed upward. Have you tried plugging direct into the router temporarily to check speeds? If wired runs at rated speed then can start working thru wireless troubleshooting.

As asked above, what kind of connection?

Equally asked above, what kind of connectedness?

I tried directly plugging into the router, got the exact same speeds. There is the graph my ISP sent me, showing clearly I am getting over 1mbps internet speeds. However, my actual connection speeds say much different.

Might try a new cable between router and modem or try plugging direct into modem and rechecking. bad cable would explain why speed to the modem is showing faster than speed at the router.

Would say to update drivers but since both wired and wireless are both doing it probably wouldnt help.

I've checked my router status, I'chiliad the only one connected. I've tried turning off all of my wifi enabled devices to make the speed test as accurate as possible. I have WPA2-PSK countersign protection on my router.

I just double-checked my connection via an ethernet cable and funny enough it was much better, really met the minimum speed. So, I estimate it may be just my router subsequently all, any guesses what may be wrong with it?

Cable to the modem or cable to the router? Cable to modem so u have a bad connectedness betwixt router and modem. Cable to router so you have a wireless issue.

It's cable to router, I figured I have a wireless issue, but not certain what that issue is specifically.

Do you have a wireless card with external antennae? Disconnect/reconnect those.

Go to device managing director and see if the wireless is showing any errors.

Completely uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall latest from manufacturers website.

After all that, go into the wireless settings and walk through each one to run across what options are.

I had the same problem. I contacted my internet access provider and they sent refresh signal to my modem which fixed the issue.
