In an attempt to create American Pie style comedies, the film industry created boring 2-hour ordeal with cliched jokes and mundane dialogues that hardly had people laughing. Although you may not like all of these, these funny movies are the top Bollywood comedy movies of 2016.

Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3

In the year of Adult comedies, Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 was the first to release this year. The movie barely recovered its production cost. It seems the movie failed like Kahaiyya and Rocky's career as porn stars in Thailand. Having said that, the movie has its funny moments and you wouldn't mind watching it on TV or streaming it online. Not the kind you want to watch with your young kids though.

Mastizaade

Relased just a week after Kya Kool Hai Hum, Mastizaade too barely recovered its cost. Lele seems to be the favorite surname for our adult comedy writers as this one too has Lily and Laila Lele, like PK Lele in KKHH3. With two double roles and a couple of sex-addicts, the movie tries to create some chaos, but fails to make you laugh. The only reason to watch this one is if Sunny Leone tends to excite you.

Kapoor & Sons

More of a family drama, this movie has more that enough laughs to keep you smiling through most of the parts. The movie surely gives you more laughs that the two earlier movies in this list. With a strong supporting cast and leads, this is a movie you can enjoy with your family and deserves a place on list of 2016 Hindi comedy films.

Housefull 3

The third installment in the Housefull franchise has its leads playing blind, deaf and paralyzed. Housefull 3 was perhaps one of the most successful comedy movie of the year. Although it did have its share of critics who were vocal about giving audiences laughs at the cost of making fun of disabilities. However, the movie also had a good background plot and  there's a lot going on to keep you busy.

Great Grand Masti

After Masti and Grand Masti, Inder Kumar came out with Great Grand Masti, and he will not let you forget this while watching the movie. Like the other other two adult-comedy attempts, this supernatural comedy experiment too bombed at the box office, with the movie barely recovering its cost. I guest Aftaab and his buddies are too old to play twenty something on screen now. The movie is utter nonsense with almost zero humor.

Happy Bhaag Jayegi

Happy Bhaag Jaayegi came as a breath of fresh air after Housefull 3 and GGM. The clean situational comedy tells a story of a bride who runs away on her wedding day and accidentally lands in Lahore, Pakistan. The romantic-comedy steers clear from any jingoism but still manages to induce some intelligent humor that makes you laugh.

Freaky Ali

Made in barely 50 odd days, Freaky Ali became an instant hit. An underdog comedy,the movie tells the story of a local goon who ends up making strides on the Golf Course when he challenges a rich businessman on a trip to make a recovery. The late entrant surely made an impression on the audience and cemented its position on the 2016 Bollywood comedy films.

Days of Tafree

The remake of Gujrati movie had the young audiences pretty excited as the movie follows a group friends. A year in the life kind of story narrates the aspirations, trials, and dreams of these final-year college going kids who are about to step into the real world and end their days of tafree.

Tutak Tutak Tutiya

Another supernatural comedy starring dancing sensation Prabhudeva couldn't make a dent at the box office. The only supernatural comedy I think that made people both afraid and laugh in two hours was Bhool Bhoolaiyaa and this one is nowhere near that.

Saat Uchakkey

This is one of those movie that has you coming out of the movies halls bewildered and thinking what was it all about. Shot in the by lanes of old Delhi, the movie has maybe a couple funny moments. Saat Uchakkey, however, ends on a philosophical note and the non-existent humor is left hours behind.
